Solo & Ensemble

What is Solo & Ensemble?

Solo & Ensemble is probably our most important and most valuable event that students have the opportunity to take advantage of. This opportunity represents real world experiences such as interviews, speeches, receiving feedback, and more. The students will prepare a solo to perform for a judge. They will dress professionally to perform their solo. The judge will then provide feedback and give the students a score. This is different from the All State process. In the Honor Choir & All State students are competing against each other. In Solo and Ensemble is a contest against yourself. The preparation for this competition is entirely doable! Students will prepare their solo during class the month of January. They will practice in the small groups with Mr. Blanton & Mrs. Chenault and then privately with our accompanist.

Cost

There are two fees associated with Solo & Ensemble. $13 Entry Fee into the contest and $43 to pay the accompanist. The first fee of $13 is due this Wednesday, December 10th. Please pay this fee via MySchoolBucks, cash or check made out to Stratford Choir. Once Mrs. Chenault receives payment and a completed Google Form with the song selection for the contest, Choir Director will enter the student into the contest. For those students who indicated they wanted to use Fundraising funds for Solo & Ensemble, those funds have already been applied and all I need is the song selection. As always, do not let money be a reason to not compete in this contest. This is meant to be fun and educational and is available to all students. If a student would like to participate and money is an issue, we can talk privately and make things work.
